Message to INFODIO readers: investigative journalism, which is what this site does, takes lots of time. Visiting media looking for a quick run down on Venezuela's gargantuan corruption, have the decency to at least cite the source when plagiarising this site's content without attribution (exhibit Reuters here and here, exhibit Bloomberg here, exhibit OCCRP here). To all readers, do the right thing, the honest thing: support independent investigative journalism, help us expose rampant corruption. Note added 28/06/2021: impostors are using this site's former editor's full name, and a fake email address (alek.boyd.arregui@gmail.com) to send copyright infringement claims / take down requests to web hosting companies (exhibit Hostgator). The attempt is yet another effort paid by corrupt thugs to erase information about their criminal activities. Infodio.com has no issues with other websites / journalists using / posting information published here, so long as the source is properly cited.

Overcoming censorphip in Venezuela: a lonely battle

The stuff published in this website is not to everyone's liking. Boligarchs in particular are seething with the prospect of having their dirty deals exposed here. Given the enormous hard power that they wield in Venezuela it's no surprise they got the site banned. It also requires executive powers to send intelligence police to raid homes of poor fellows they suspect are providing me with information. I find astonishing the silence of fellow Venezuelan bloggers, journalists, media and freedom of expression advocates in this respect. But even more astonishing that the Committee to Protect Journalists ignored my help plea. This is a site whose sole aim is to expose corruption. Corruption is like a Hydra, alas Herculean efforts, such as this one, are not welcomed and not supported.

But never mind. We shall continue bringing to light the doings of the Boliburgeoisie. In fact, we are just starting. We have managed to set up a secure leak platform, infodioLeaks, through which amazing information keeps turning up (more on that later). Today, we have launched a mirror site, in the hope that readers in Venezuela that aren't comfortable installing Tor Browser or using proxy alternatives will still be able to read what we publish. One thing is certain: for all their ill gotten wealth and power Boligarchs will not succeed in their censorship attempt. Cuba, a totalitarian communist regime, tightly controlled and stuck in the dark ages of technology, has not been able to block flow of information. Neither has China, with all its might. Can anyone honestly expect that "uncomprehending mediocrities", the Boliburgeoisie and their "ethical hackers" are going to?

They won't. They can't. And so they resort to brute force, to violence, to threats, intimidation and defamation. That's the only thing thugs know and can do, in the hope that critics will cower and retreat. Well, not us. None of the stuff they do in Venezuela can affect the running of this site. We will remain steadfast in our mission, for corruption in Venezuela has reached such a state that corrupt Boligarchs are being sued by utterly corrupt Russians in London!
